The Angler’s Travel Report

Your FREE Subscription to these two eMagazines will provide you with up to the minute reports on all of the best hunting and fishing destinations in the world, including outfitter and lodge critiques. These reports will assist you in learning whom you can count on, whom it may be best to do a little more research into before making a booking…and whom to just plain avoid.

Here is a column that will appear in the January / February issue:

THE VANTAGE POINT:

HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all! I don’t want to offend Santa Claus, but we here at Adventurix think that you should call on the people who mean most to you more often than once per year.  That’s why I am proud to tell you that Adventurix will be bringing you The Hunter’s Travel Report and The Angler’s Travel Report every other month from this point forward, because our entire company wants to let you know that you are Number One on our list. It is our sincere hope that you will find The Hunter’s Travel Report—or just The Report for short—a valuable resource for not only all subjects hunting, but other information concerning the traveling wingshooter and/or big game hunter as well.

Obviously, The Hunter’s Travel Report will contain feature hunting stories, but it will also contain a regular showcase called The Destination Spotlight, which I hope you will find informative, and useful in planning your future hunting trips.  The Destination Spotlight will feature a different wingshooting or big game hunting destination in every issue, including a photo essay. Then there will be the always interesting Outfitter and Lodge Critiques section, where you will find first-hand reports on our readers' experiences at various lodges: favorable, unfavorable, and unfortunately, the occasional disaster.  You can also look forward to less important, but often useful stories that will include reviews and evaluations on outdoor gear and equipment, restaurants, hotels, airlines, and other companies that our readers will regularly come into contact with during the preparation and conduct of their travels, as well as a steady diet of general travel tips, restrictions, and travel warnings.

Now that I have introduced the new magazine, I suppose I should get back on track and talk about the holiday season, which was the real reason I wrote this coulumn in the first place.  Whether you are celebrating Christmas, Hanukah, or just ringing in the new year, we hope that you are enjoying great health, happiness, and joy. I hope you are cherishing every moment of this special time of year that tends to bring out the best in everyone...whatever it is. Whatever it is that is ignited inside of us this time of year that makes us think of others a little more often, spend time with loved ones a little more often, or give a gift to that special someone in the form of a present or service.

And since this is the season of giving, and there are numerous opportunities for you to give to the people, organizations, and causes that matter most to you, I would like to suggest two gift opportunities for those who might be “fresh out” of giving ideas this holiday season, and/or to those who desire to give just a bit more of themselves this season.  In fact, many of you can easily do both, so here they are:

  1. Teach a boy or girl how to shoot.  It won’t be overly expensive, and I can assure you that the bond you will form with this child will be one that you, and the child, will forever treasure (after you get past the whining, and a bunch of “I, know!” out of the young man or woman—because we all know kids are just ahsamed to admit that they don’t always get it right on the first try).  I think you will find that leaving this legacy is not only quite rewarding, but also the greatest form of stewardship that you could possible perform in order to to perpetuate the tradition of hunting, and sport shooting.

  1. Give generously with your time and money to the organizations and causes that you believe are doing the most to protect the habitat of wild game and/or defend your right to keep and bear arms.  The NRA is the obvious choice, but as you know there are a multitude of others out there who are too numerous to list.  As a serious sportsman, you know who they are, so please help them save their precious donated dollars by calling on them, instead of having them have to call on you.

I realize that these are not very original gifts, and that most of you are probably already doing one or both. But for those of you who are still sitting on the fence, I hope this column will be the little bit of encouragement that you need to become more active in passing on our closely held tradition--this sport of kings--that we enjoy so very much.  Personally, I made my contribution this year by gifting my old Daisy air rifle, and a Ruger .22 semi-auto to an underprivledged Argentine family. I told the two young benefactors that I would be returning for a demonstration of their newly developed skills (which will be obtained under the tutiledge of thier father, a surviving veteran of Argentina's Falkland Islands war) this time next year.

So as we bid farewell to 2007, I would like to thank all of you that have taken the time to read this.  Your support means the world to us, and if you think we have a good product, the best thing you can do to support us is buy an Advantage Membership and help get the word out about Adventurix by forwarding our emails to all of your hunting and fishing friends and collegues.

You can rest assured that we will continually redouble our efforts to earn your business in 2008, and far beyond.

Great hunting, safe hunting, and happy holidays to you and yours—see you next year!
