You can not only count on Adventurix to bring you the latest last minute hunting trips, and last minute fishing trips, but also valuable travel tips and resources like the ones listed below. It should be noted that none of these tips are the final word on safety, and are provided for informational and convenience purposes only.
Upon Arrival At Your Hotel
1. Deposit your important documents and valuable items in the safe in your room, or the hotel's safety deposit box at the Front Desk. Never leave valuable unattended in your room under any circumstances
2. While in your room, always keep your door locked with both the bolt and chain. It is not uncommon for a hotel to issue a key to another guest who checked in after you, and without the added security of the bolt and/or chain to physically keep the door from opening; this guest will be able to walk right in to your room!
3. Never give your room number to strangers, or keep your room key in the jacket or sleeve, which identifies your room. Keep them in separate pockets or bags.
4. Never open your door for anyone without looking through the peephole and verifying the identity of the individual. If the person is an employee of the hotel, they should have some from of ID; ask them to display it for you before opening the door, and if you have any doubt at all, or the person is completely unexpected, call the Front Desk and verify this persons name and reason for requesting entry to your room.
5. Familiarize yourself with the emergency exits on your floor, as well as the general layout of the hotel.
In The Event Of An Emergency
Fire
1. Remain calm at all times. Panic and anxiety cloud your judgment and slow your reaction time, increasing your susceptibility of injury or death.
2. Never use elevators as an emergency exit under any conditions.
3. If you suspect fire, wet your clothes and cover your nose and mouth with a wet cloth and make your escape by crawling and keeping yourself as low to the ground as possible.
4. Turn off your air conditioning panel. This can lower the risk of smoke entering your room.
5. Once outside, if you cannot safely provide assistance to others, get as far away from the site as possible.
Earthquake
1. Remain calm.
2. An earthquake only lasts a few seconds.
3. Position yourself beneath a doorframe or table.
4. Protect your head with a pillow, cushion, or blanket.
5. Do not position yourself beneath objects that might fall.
Swimming Pool Safety
1. Never dive into a pool that has a "No Diving" caution sign. Always physically check the depth of the pool areas that are designated for diving before you actually dive.
2. Never run, or engage in horseplay around the pool's edge.
3. Make sure that you are aware if a lifeguard is, or is not, on duty.
4. Never bring glass bottles, or drinking cups to the pool area, and if others are using them, always exercise caution.
City Touring
All large cities posses a crime element--although some more than others. Therefore, it is always advisable to take the following preventive safety measures:
1. Avoid walking alone on city streets and in parks.
2. There is safety in numbers: the more people there are walking with you, the less likely you will become a target of a street crime.
3. Never hail a taxi on the street, if there is a possibility to hire a "secure taxi". A secure taxi would be a taxi from a hotel, or one that is called by the restaurant that you are patronizing.
4. If you choose to rent a car, always plan your route well ahead of time in order to minimize the possibility of becoming lost. While traveling, ensure that all of the doors are locked, windows are rolled all the way up, and that your seatbelts are fastened.
5. Never leave valuables in your car, and use a parking garage whenever possible.
6. Plan your itinerary so that you are never carrying more money than you will need for your daily excursion.
7. Never carry your real passport-make a photocopy, and carry that.
* Obviously there are many more precautions that one should take to ensure their own safety and security, and it would be impractical to list them all here. Adventurix offers these tips only as a general guideline. Always ask the hotel staff, and your tour guide, for more pertinent and local information. We cannot be held responsible for any losses or damages that you incur during your travels (please see our and for more information).
