Manitoba, Canada is an excellent location for the upland hunter to experience some waterfowl mixed with upland hunting in September or October. These 2 months provide good weather before the hard winter and snow.

Temperatures can range, so prepare with layers and the proper blaze orange vests and hats for the upland grouse hunting. The morning are spent hunting ducks over decoys. The afternoons are spent trekking the fields, meadows and bluffs for the variety of grouse.

River Side has long but active waterfowl and upland hunting schedules. We begin about 6 AM with a fresh, warm home cooked breakfast. We do our duck hunts in the morning in boats over decoys. Remember, this area of Canada gets cold so please prepare and bring warm clothes and gear for cold, wet weather.

We break for lunch by noon and go back out for the Upland Hunting about 2:30 PM. Please don't forget your blaze orange hat and vest for the Upland hunting. The Upland hunting for grouse does take place over a tremendous amount of land, meadows, and bluffs, please prepare with comfortable shoes and a camera for the outstanding scenery.

The accommodations at River Side are set up so that each group has their own cabine and private bathroom. We have daily maid service for all of the cabins. Our meals are well remembered and we provide three each day! River Side Lodge has a wonderful log gazebo for watching your favorite team on satellite, sharing stories and hunting memories, or just relaxing by the warm wood stove.
