Though pigeon shooting has existed in Europe since
shortly after the time that hunters first had access
to shotguns, the shooting there has always been rather
formal and those that have pursued it there have found
it largely disappointing. Enter Bolivia and the new
era of high volume pigeon shooting.
Along with Paraguay, Bolivia is largely the country
that brought the great shooting for wild pigeons to
center stage in recent years. And Wing Shooting the
World is largely responsible for opening the pigeon
shooting venues in Bolivia. Shooting pigeons in Bolivia
carries brings all the same benefits as dove shooting
does. Both species of bird are agricultural pests,
and the approach to bringing them to the guns is similar.
While you'll not shoot the extreme volumes on
pigeons that you may on doves—you'll no
doubt return from a Bolivian pigeon safari and exclaim
to friends that the wild pigeon is your new favorite
sporting bird—most do!
Bolivia is a great pigeon outpost for the same reason
it is a great dove destination-large concentrations
of birds due to intense farming, great outfitters
that scout endlessly, short air travel and driving
times, fine accommodations, and superb outfitting.
Wing Shooting the World holds shooting rights on thousands
of acres of land, and works with large landowners
to keep near the pigeons. But because the pigeons
in Bolivia can move in almost the same migratory manner
as a duck might, WSTW houses shooters in their network
of private lodges in the middle of each of their shooting
areas, so driving times to and from the field each
day are held to an absolute minimum. Each and every
lodge is held to the same standard, all are clean
and comfortable, with private bedrooms and baths.
Each provides all the comforts of a shooting home
away from home.
*** We regret any inconvenience, but since the Adventurix
business model represents the antithesis of those
who do business by charging high commissions for their
services, we do not accept American Express cards.
Getting there…
Flights from the United States to Viru Viru International
Airport in Santa Cruz are via American Airlines, Lloyd
Aero Boliviano, or AeroSur from Miami. AeroSur also
provides Santa Cruz service from Washington D.C. All
flights are overnight with morning arrivals in Santa
Cruz, usually about 8am. Wing Shooting The World staff
will steer you quickly through customs and provide
your transfer via charter flight to the pigeon destination
lodge that has been chosen due to proximity to the
best pigeon flights. After a welcome lunch, begin
shooting this afternoon. You'll then shoot two
full days, and a long morning on your 4th day, before
a short charter back to Santa Cruz where you'll
overnight in the 5-star Los Tajibos Hotel, a showcase
hotel property near one of Santa Cruz's best
districts. Transfer from your hotel to the airport
is included the following day.

Because there are so few pigeon outfitters in the
world, Wing Shooting the World has forged their own
way en route to becoming one of the foremost providers
of wild pigeon shooting. Their guides and staff understand
pigeons, and what makes them tick, and they plot field
operations much as if it were a waterfowl hunt, with
attention to timeliness and location, location, location.
You can book with confidence, knowing that WSTW will
get you to and from the airport and to and from the
shooting promptly each day. Once in the field, you'll
find everything you need, good bird boys, stools,
shells, drinks and decoys or blinds if they are being
deployed.
Every day starts with a knock at your door and room
service coffee delivery, just to get your brain started--before
sitting down to a multi-course breakfast. After breakfast,
guides will transport you to the field--most drives
are under 20 minutes. Once you reach your shooting
location, WSTW will have a bird boy on hand each day
to help you shoot all the pigeons you can. He'll
help collect your bag and provide shells and drinks.
Shooting, though not in the same mind-numbing volumes
as dove shooting, can still be very fast, and you'll
have little time to fiddle about as pigeons race by
and dive in on your stand. After a morning session,
it's off for a gourmet field lunch, then perhaps
a short nap in the shade before more afternoon pigeon
action. Each evening return to you'll return
to your lodge for drinks, dinner and some laughs near
the fire or on the veranda.
Your last morning hunt will stretch until just about
the lunch hour, then after lunch at the lodge and
time to pack, you'll charter to Santa Cruz,
and overnight at the Los Tajibos Hotel, so you and
your group will have the chance to enjoy a bit of
Bolivian nightlife before the trip homewards.

WSTW prides itself on providing the international
bird hunter with accommodations that are a memorable
part of the trip.
However, unlike lodges that are constructed where
the birds may be today, but may not be tomorrow, Wing
Shooting the World prefers to stay mobile, with a
cadre of lodges throughout the agricultural areas
of Bolivia so you'll be on the birds each and
every trip.
Each and every lodge is a clean, comfortable sporting
lodge with four or five private rooms and baths, and
some have pools or Jacuzzi spas. There is a full staff
at each location. Delightful meals are served, ranging
from grilled meats and chicken to local specialties.
And there's never a shortage of cold beer and
fine wines, plus excellent desserts made by the lodge
chefs.
