A tarpon trip with WSTW is a great adventure, and the daily schedule is designed to maximize time on the water when fishing conditions are best. After morning coffee has been delivered to your door, you'll enjoy a fisherman's breakfast that combines the best of American and Mexican morning favorites. Then, it is off to the boats by 8:00 am a run of ten to thirty minutes in smooth-riding fiberglass skiffs. Once you reach the fishing area, anglers take to the platform at the front of the boat while your expert guide poles the boat quietly through the mangroves and across shallow flats. Most fish are sighted before you make a cast-making for some tall drama, in short water. You'll jump tarpon, fight snook, and stalk bonefish, permit and other flats species, so bring a variety of tackle prepared for the toughest fighting and jumping fish in saltwater. Midday you'll enjoy a packed lunch on the water, with more fishing until about 3 or 4pm, when the low sun angle usually begins to make seeing difficult. Then it's a short run back to the lodge to rest and relax.

Getting There: It's easy to get to these Yucatan tarpon. Even if you live in the snow-torn northern climates, you can leave home in the morning and have an umbrella drink in your hand on the beach by mid-afternoon. You just fly to Cancun, Mexico which is served by almost every commercial carrier of note, as well as many charter airlines from almost every major US city.
