Why Go Quail Hunting in Argentina?
Upland bird hunting in Argentina has taken a backseat in popularity to the
dove hunting, and waterfowl hunting opportunities that are available throughout the northern portion of the country. Argentina quail hunting and
Perdiz hunting are some of the most exciting and fulfilling wingshooting programs in Argentina, and should not be overlooked as great additions to dove and
duck hunting.
Perdiz hunting has been a popular bird hunting trip for many years, but only recently has quail hunting in Argentina become popular among visiting international wingshooters. Very few Argentine outfitters offer Argentina quail hunting, mainly because there are so few areas that contain enough quail to put on a consist and reliable upland bird hunting experience.
Fortunately, Adventurix has reconnoitered one of the best hunting lodges in all of Argentina to host our clients that desire the best Argentina quail hunting experience possible. The estancia is owned by a very successful American businessman who has endeavored (successfully) in developing what is arguably the best quail hunt in the entire country.
The hunting takes place in the foothills of the Andes Mountains, where the walking can be a bit tough, but the birds are thick—which is just what you want when you have traveled thousands of miles to experience the best quail hunting in Argentina.
You will be accompanied by an experienced upland bird hunting guide who will be handling a pair of German Shorthaired Pointers, English Setters, or English Pointers that have years of experience hunting valley quail. The birds will hold well for a point behind the myriad rocks and grassy clumps that make up the rolling hills of the Andean foothills, and like quail hunting anywhere, these birds will never cease to surprise you with their ability to flush at just the right (or wrong) time—challenging the wingshooter to muster up every bit of shotgunning skill possible to bring the bird down before it flies out of range.
If you end up missing a few, do not fret. There will be many more, and most hunters always reach the limit of ten birds on every outing. Like quail anywhere, these birds make superb table fare, and the “gaucho” chefs have a unique ability to prepare the birds on a wood-fired grill for a taste and flavor that is incredibly unique. The birds are basted in Argentine chimichuri sauce, and the seemingly endless portions of quail are washed down with the surprisingly good local lager—Quilmes.
In addition to having the some of the best Argentina quail hunting available, there are other activities at this destination that one can enjoy once the limits of quail have been reached. For starters, one can hunt the legendary Red Stag. The stag here are some of the largest in the world, rivaled in size only in parts of Europe and New Zealand, and the stag one will find in Patagonia are much larger than those found in northern Argentina, or in the La Pampa region. Here you can experience the best quail hunting in Argentina one day, and shoot a 500 class Red Stag the very next day.
Fly fishing for rainbow and brown trout are also available, making up a perfect Cast & Blast. Wade fishing is done exclusively on the banks of the estancia’s private river sectors, and float trips on the Limay River are also available at no additional charge. You simply decide which style of fishing you prefer, and we will make sure that it is organized perfectly to complement your Argentina quail hunting trip.
