Along the banks of the Uruguay River, sits the second
largest city in Uruguay: Salto. Best known to
sportsmen for some of the biggest and best Golden
Dorado fishing in Uruguay.
Belay that, the best
dorado fishing in South America.
For those not
familiar with the freshwater dorado, it is a large
fish belonging to the salmon family, but that is where
it ends, this incredible fighting machine pulls like
a striper, and jumps like a tarpon! The dorado
has razor sharp teeth, and is affectionately known
as, “The River Tiger” by the South Americans.
You too will see what it is like to fight the tiger
when you hook up with these big fish, because they
are notorious for making one long run after another—stripping
line off of your reel, and pulling muscles in your
arms, until you finally—depending on your
skills—land this beast in the boat. Dorado
fishing in South America is awesome, and nobody does
it better than Los Gauchos. We will get you
in the location where you can hook up 10-20 times
per day on dorados that average 8 pounds, and grow
as large as 50lbs.
