The word is out: one does not have to travel to the Amazon to find the hardest-fighting, highest-jumping fish in South America. The peacock bass is a respectable fighter, but the Golden Dorado will give the striped Brazilian giant a run for its money. Nowhere is this more true than with

Fishing in Uruguay - Why is it the next big thing?
Uruguay fishing is in its infancy as an international fishing destination, largely because Argentina has been so popular, for so long. Only now are international anglers and hunters learning that Uruguay packs a really big punch. Fishing in Uruguay is increasingly becoming one of our most sought after venues, for several important reasons.
Unlike many fishing destinations in South America, Uruguay dorado fishing is a “gentleman’s trip”. It does not require one to rise in the early pre-dawn hours, nor does one ever need to get wet, or leave the boat. For those who have disabilities, it is still easy to catch big (even the biggest fish), since the most productive dorado fishing in Uruguay is accomplished by trolling.
Trolling is not always the preferred method for many anglers, and for those who want to spend the day spin casting, that is not a problem at all. Simply inform your guide that you would prefer not to troll, and you will be taken to the creeks, sloughs, and backwater areas of the Uruguay River where spin casting is most productive. However, be advised that your chances of catching very large Uruguay dorado are always better by trolling.
Another reason that fishing in Uruguay is becoming so popular is that one can be in the water fishing the afternoon of arrival. Our fishing locations are located only 3.5 hours and 4.5 hours (respectively) from Buenos Aires International Airport (EZE), or Carrasco International Airport in Uruguay (MVD). We recommend four days of fishing in order to ensure that you will catch a very large dorado. Chances are that you will catch a large Uruguay dorado every day, but any Uruguay fishing trip (like fishing anywhere) is subject to occasional inconsistencies—with inclement weather being the most common threat.
So what happens if you travel 5,000 miles for a
Uruguay fishing trip and get rained out? Under ordinary circumstances, you would be out of luck…but if you are a hunter, we have dove hunting, pigeon hunting, and Perdiz hunting to fall back on—and it is only 30 minutes from the fishing dock. We realize that you are going to fish, but if that is impossible due to weather, we find that most clients are satisfied to experience “Cordoba-like” dove shooting—where burning through three to four cases of shotgun shells per day is the norm.
The best dorado fishing in Uruguay is only one phone call away with Adventurix, and if you like the idea of a Cast & Blast (Uruguay dove hunting combined with Uruguay dorado), we can also set that up as an extension of your Uruguay fishing trip.
